Posted on Updated on

If you are hungry, then you have come to the right place my friend! Dumplings are the traditional food of the Lunar Festival; it has been served since the time of the first Lunar Festival, and I am pleased to be able to offer it at this one.  In exchange for just a single coin of ancestry, I will share with you a sampling of one of the tastiest dishes you will ever enjoy!

You will need:

6 cups vegetable oil for frying
Heat oil to 365 degrees in a deep fryer or heavy saucepan.

1 egg
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk

1/2 cup white sugar
In a separate bowl for coating.

In a medium bowl, beat the egg, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon oil until light.

Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, stir in alternately with the milk until well blended.

The batter will thicken if you let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Drop by teaspoonfuls into the hot oil and fry on both sides until golden.

They look a bit funky, not to worry, pull the stray crispies off and you are good to go.

Drain on paper towels or a rack and roll in 1/2 cup white sugar while still warm.

Yum!

Have you ever bought a cake and wondered what to do with the cake dome? Please, don’t say you thew it away. They work great as containers for any creation. They also stack well so save them up and give your baked goods as gifts.
